Blindness Prevention

Cataracts and blindness are plagues of African children. A simple operation or a tube of antibiotic ointment can correct these disabling conditions that affect a child for life.

Yet, tens of thousands of children needlessly go blind for lack of this relatively inexpensive medication and or cataract operation that can be provided so easily. Many areas of Africa have no eye clinics or even doctors and the people are so poverty stricken that even if there were facilities, they could not afford them.

Gandhi World Hunger Fund recognizes this vision treatment as an essential part of our goal to eliminate curable diseases and disabilities, and we support doctors, clinics, and medical supply shipments to help reduce the instance of curable eye disease in children.

Healthy Growth Program

Gandhi World Hunger Fund’s program for parasite-related diseases provides a simple cost-effective solution that stops the infestation and saves lives with a single pill. The double tragedy of this health crisis is that children who are already starving from lack of food are plagued with life draining parasites that actually devour them from the inside out.

With a treatment as simple as one or two pills, children can be rid of these disease causing organisms and on their way to better health and development.

Our outreach provides shipments of the medical treatments needed to stop these deadly parasites that are easily distributed and proven life savers for the children.
