Fighting Diseases
Blindness Prevention
Cataracts and blindness are plagues of African children. A simple operation or a tube of antibiotic ointment can correct these disabling conditions that affect a child for life.
Yet, tens of thousands of children needlessly go blind for lack of this relatively inexpensive medication and/or cataract operation that can be provided so easily. Many areas of Africa have no eye clinics or even doctors and the people are so poverty stricken that even if there were facilities, they could not afford them.
Gandhi World Hunger Fund recognizes this vision treatment as an essential part of our goal to eliminate curable diseases and disabilities, and we support doctors, clinics, and medical supply shipments to help reduce the instance of curable eye disease in children.
